About Triangle Tomorrow

Triangle Tomorrow, a program of the Research Triangle Regional Partnership (RTRP), works closely with business and community leaders to improve the quality of life and economic competitiveness of the 13-county Research Triangle Region.

Triangle Tomorrow works with stakeholders to:

  • Identify critical quality of life issues that require regional approaches and solutions.
  • Mobilize broad-based leadership to examine these issues and develop action plans for change.
  • Lead change, by implementing action agendas directly or identifying partners that can integrate improvements into their existing programs.

In the past, Triangle Tomorrow's collaborative efforts with businesses, industry, nonprofits, civic groups, colleges, universities and citizens have resulted in meaningful improvements in areas of environmental sustainability, land use and economic development.

For more information about how and why Triangle Tomorrow was formed, read our Background page.

Developing Regional Solutions

Issues of air quality, education, transportation and land use transcend political boundary lines, yet typically are addressed only on the local community level. Triangle Tomorrow believes the region can be world class only if communities rally around a common vision and plan.

Triangle Tomorrow members meet annually to identify those issues that call for broad regional solutions. Task forces and standing committees examine these issues and recommend strategic actions for change.

Triangle Tomorrow focuses on these major areas:

  • Regional Competitiveness - implementing leadership and quality of life action steps for the RTRP-led regional competitiveness plan, "Staying on Top: Winning the Job Wars of the Future."
  • Air Quality - managing the Triangle Region Air Quality Coalition and Triangle Air Awareness Program to earn and sustain compliance with federal clean air standards.
  • Quality of Life Benchmarking - measuring and reporting on non-economic factors that affect the region's quality of life and competitiveness, such as health, housing, schools and child safety.
  • Land Use - promoting growth and development that are environmentally, socially and economically responsible.
  • Education Leadership- researching and developing leadership models for public education

Triangle Tomorrow is a membership organization that spans the region and includes representatives from the private sector, universities, community colleges, major Chambers of Commerce, and civic organizations.

Triangle Tomorrow is a 501(c) nonprofit and is governed by a Board of Directors.
