NEW BOARD CHAIR FOR GREATER TRIANGLE REGIONAL COUNCIL

The Greater Triangle Regional Council recently announced the appointment of Ben Taylor as Chair, replacing Richard T. "Stick" Williams who has recently been transfered to Duke Energy in Charlotte. Mack Paul was appointed as Vice Chair to succeed Taylor.

Stick Williams said, "The Council is delighted to have the leadership of both Ben and Mack. Ben had long been recognized as a visionary thinker and a leader in regional issues. Mack is active in regional smart growth initiatives and promoting regional cooperation."

Ben Taylor currently serves as Senior Architect with Integrated Design, PA, formerly Envirotek, Inc., of which he was President. He chaired the Regional Development Choices Project in 1994 and has directed the activities of many visionary projects including the SAS Soccer Park and The Healing Place of Wake County.

Mack Paul is an attorney with Helms Mulliss & Wicker, PLLC, with extensive experience in government, public policy and regulatory law. Previously, Mack served as Chief of Staff and legal counsel to Lt. Governor Dennis Wicker. He is a founding member of Triangle Growth Strategies, Inc., and Triangle Smart Growth Coalition.

GTRC brings together regional leaders to examine issues that impact the Triangle's future, highlight and advance strategies to achieve success, and partner and assist other organizations with implementation. The Council focuses the extensive resources and expertise in the region on a few select strategies critical to our region's future. The 40 member Council is a public/private partnership.
