GREATER TRIANGLE REGIONAL COUNCIL CHANGES NAME, SIGNALS NEW APPROACH

The executive committee of the Greater Triangle Regional Council has announced its official name change to Triangle Tomorrow and a new action oriented mission.

"A new name and mission signals a new, fresh approach to the organization's collaborative efforts with key stakeholders to develop strategies on major public policy issues affecting our region's quality of life," said Mack Paul, executive committee chair.

Triangle Tomorrow will be accompanied with the tagline, "Fostering a World Class Region." Triangle Tomorrow's executive director, Pam Wall said that, "This tagline reflects our belief that this region is world class and we must continue to maintain that status. It also reflects our organizational roots developed at the 1992 World Class Region Conference." The GTRC was formed when over 700 World Class Region Conference participants agreed that the Triangle needed a leadership council to set strategic direction on quality of life issues. The organization has since been designated a 501(c)3.

Local public relations agency CapStrat was engaged to help create the organization's new identity, including a new logo. "We wanted the name and tagline to communicate that we are working with an action oriented mindset and specific goals to improve our region," added Paul. Currently, Triangle Tomorrow focuses on air quality, benchmarking, land use planning and workforce development.

In an effort to make the most of regional leadership and resources, Triangle Tomorrow recently merged with Triangle Growth Strategies. Triangle Tomorrow is also partnering with the Research Triangle Regional Partnership on projects from the "Staying On Top. Winning the Job Wars of the Future" initiative. "There is a direct link between quality of life and economic vitality," said Wall. "We are working to make that link stronger."

Triangle Tomorrow is expanding its membership to diversify its connections in the region, particularly among business and industry, civic organizations and individuals. For information on Triangle Tomorrow's projects and membership, please contact Pam Wall at 919-840-7372, ext. 16.
