Purpose:
To explore future development patterns in the Triangle and to keep the region focused on the strategic direction that it had selected so far. The participants agreed on The Research Triangle Regional Development Principles. The Principles is a framework to guide public and private decisions on growth.

Solid Waste Management in the Triangle
Purpose
To examine potential opportunities for regional approaches to solid waste management in the Triangle region. A series of regional meetings set goals and principles. Affiliated organizations: NC Central University, Duke University, NC State University and UNC-Chapel Hill.

Regionalization of Wastewater Management in the Greater Triangle Region
Purpose:
Developed strategies, based on a study of water resources to examine the need for regional action to provide wastewater management in the Triangle.
Developed consensus that collection and disposal of wastewater were among the most serious barriers to orderly and efficient development and a quality environment in the Region.
